Andy LoganJohn Andrew Logan, age 85, of the Center Community, Vidalia, Georgia died Saturday evening, April 27, 2024, at Community Hospice House.  He was born on April 20, 1939, the second child to W.R. and Inez Rush Logan in Greenwood, South Carolina.  He attended high school in Greenwood, South Carolina.  Mr. Logan was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Logan; one sister, Nancy Holden, all of Greenwood, South Carolina; and one nephew, William Logan of Austin, Texas.

The John Logan family consists of his wife and partner of forty-nine years, Faye Rustin; one daughter, Andrea Bossie and husband Andrew of Villa Rica, Georgia; one brother, A.J. Logan and wife Barbara of St. Matthews, South Carolina; one sister, Frances Ann Festa and husband Jimmy; one sister-in-law, Shirley Logan; and brother-in-law, Ray Holder, all of Greenwood, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Stephen, Philip, Gabriele, and Drew Bossie, all of Villa Rica, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Sue Grisham, Chris Rustin, and Fran Harden, all of Santa Claus, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Logan was a lifetime member of the Mine Masonic Lodge #117 in McCormick, South Carolina, having been inducted at the age of twenty-one.  He was a past member of Alee Temple Shriners of Savannah and Temple Shriners of Jacksonville, Florida. He was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in South Carolina and taught Sunday school there.  He was raised on a dairy farm and worked there until age twenty.  His first public job was in the heating and air industry in Greenwood. Later, he joined the Union and traveled a great deal “following the jobs”. He moved to Lyons in the 1970s and worked at Plant Hatch, and later at Plant Vogtle from 1978 to 1985. He worked up and down the east coast and in several cities including Fort Pierce, Texas, Watts Bar, Tennessee, Decatur, Georgia, Peach Bottom and Plymouth. While at Bath, Maine, he taught welding to members of the United States Navy. After the winters in Oswego, New York, he decided in 1985 that it was time to head south, back to his southern ties and settled in Jacksonville. For several years, John continued to work in the nuclear industry and went from a top notch welder to a corporate superintendent.  One of the most exciting and interesting jobs for John was while working at Shippingport, Pennsylvania at the first ever decommissioned power plant.  In about 2000, he decided it was time to quit the big jobs, big money and traveling jobs and come home and time to try something a little less dangerous.  Logan became very successful as a recruiter in the service employment service business Faye, his wife, had started. After about a year, he joined his brother-in-law, Rick Grisham, in his gutter business.  Logan and Faye later moved to McDonald Farm on Hwy 15, Vidalia Georgia. They loved all the cows and buffalo, and interacting with the animals of the farm. But, after a year, they moved to Villa Rica, Georgia.  This was one of the most interesting and exciting jobs ever because Mr. and Mrs. Logan had never lived with their kids full-time. It was a challenge, but it was all well worth it.  After all the kids grew up, the Logans would eventually move back to Vidalia to the farm.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon, May 3rd from 2:00 until just prior to the memorial service at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moye and Mr. Hugh Brantley officiating.
